Black Panther Album Review

Now I rarely buy a soundtrack to a movie but GIRL!!! Let me tell you about Black Panther: The Album. It was released on February, 9, 2018. It debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Its debut week was the biggest for a movie soundtrack since Suicide Squad: The Album released a year and a half ago. The album also was the most stream soundtrack in 2018.  The album was released through Top Dawg/Aftermath/Interscope Records. The album features music both from the movie and not. The album was produced and features one of the nominees for the G.O.A.T. Kendrick Lamar. If you are a fan of kendrick or Top Dawg, who artist are featured on the album, then you will love this album. There are 14 tracks on the album which has a heavy hip hop influence. Even those songs not featured in the movie make connection to the movie with references to characters or African inspired drums, beats and vocals. The viewpoint of the two main character T’Challa and Erik Killmonger are themes that run throughout the album. This is visible in songs like Black Panther and King’s Dead. Like many of Lamar’s albums the songs are filled with real and gripping lyrics. The album features big names like the Weeknd, Future, 2 Chainz, and TDE cohorts SZA and ScHoolboy Q, the aforementioned Smith and SOB x RBE; Sacramento rapper Mozzy), and African artists singers Sjava and Babes Wodumo; rappers Yugen Blakrok and Saudi.

My current favorites are All the Stars, and King’s Dead.  Both are singles off the album with music video available online.

What are your thoughts on the album? What was your favorite song?
