Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

As with many kids growing up in the 1990s  I watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I loved the series so when I saw the Netflix adupation I was all for it. If I say so myself they did not disappoint. In my opinion this was definitely binge worthy.  Sabrina is true to herself and struggles between her Witch and Human sides. True to the teenage witch Sabrina is in the care of her aunts Hilda (Lucy Davis) and Zelda (Miranda Otto), a wary black cat, and a stubbornness to balance being half-mortal and half-witch that ends in disaster more often than not. Kiernan Shipka does an excellent job portraying sabrina in the show.  This is definitely more mature and far darker than the teenage witch “family” version. The show speaks frequently speaks of satanism. So if your super religious and you don’t play that shit you may not like. The show has some great plot twist that change everything. Every time you think Sabrina is getting pulled into the dark and away from her humanity she seems to find her way back and defy all the odds. Is everyone who they seem to be,  can they really be trusted? The gothic tone of the witch elements in sabrinas life lends to the satanic, horror and acnicent feeling that brings the magic to life. Sabrina is suck between two world each shunning her for opposite side yet all she wants is for both sides to live together.

So far Netflix has currently  produced 2 seasons. Season 3 is rumored to be released in October of this year and season 4 has been green lighted.  The second season leaves on a cliffhanger that hints at a Hell of an adventure.
