Nerdom and the Women’s March 2018

                          January 20th, 2018 marked the anniversary of Trump’s inauguration and the second national Women’s March since his presidency. Among the hundreds of thousands that marched, the women of nerdom young and old were present. Many of the signs carried by protesters bore references to the powerful female figures of nerd culture. Many signs bore the imagine of Star Wars Character Princess Leia or bore “A Woman’s Place Is In the Resistant” often accompanied by the resistance symbol. Women Women was also a female hero often on signs. A Powerful Puff Girl inspired sign read “Ain’t No Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice Here Today”. This march and those like it show just how important it is to show strong female in media, especially since women represent half of the world’s population.
