Look who’s tearing several pages from Disney’s playbook on building a franchise…….Assassin’s Creed hasn’t been released in theaters yet,but there is a sequel already in the development pipeline. Hollywood alpha male Michael Fassbender ( Fassy to his ardent fans) stars in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film and has already signed on for the sequel with the script sight unseen……if that doesn’t say faith in a budding franchise I don’t know what would.
Apparently Hollywood is ready to lays bets on AC being a outstanding moneymaker.
Fassbender plays a character not found in the Ubisoft game of the same name, but a man named Callum Lynch. The Callum Lynch character is made aware of his powerful and mysterious bloodline after he is sentence to death for a serious crime, executed and then liberated by a shadowy organization. Lynch is taken by this secret society after his pronounced deceased and he is shown a new path and a dark past as he is descended of an 15th century assassin and is pressed to take up his ancestral place within the society.
It all comes down to how big the box office take will be for New Regency studio’s gamble but there is a bit of hiccup with who will direct any aforementioned sequels. Assassin’s Creed director Justin Kurzel who has worked Fassbender and others in the cast before has not signed on for any more films and there is currently not a peep or a rumor on who’s on the directorial shortlist.
Assassin’s Creed opens in theaters December 21st 2016.
