Album Review:Heather Powell ‘A Haze of Grays and Blue’

HeatherPowellPorchPic-1-580x386Singer/songwriter, solider, stage performer, here stands a a proud American and Renaissance woman.  A take charge New Yorker who began her entertainment career in the  US Army as a lead performer. Heather Powell has released a brand new ten track album  ‘A Haze of Grays and Blues’ this past February to acclaim and comparisons to Karen Carpenter and the venerable Barbra Streisand.

Near the end of  seven years of loyal service in the military as a Medical Service Corp Officer, Ms Powell put her leadership skills to use in the Army’s theatrical company.

The return to civilian life gave room for the birth of multiple creative endeavors. With some free time on her hands Heather poured her creative fire, into a musical Lipstick and Camouflage and a solo music career. Ms Powell collaborated on the recently released album ‘ A Haze of Grays and Blue’  and co-wrote with musical and creative visionary Tomas Doncker, who also produced it with James Delltocoma for True Groove Records.

One of two simply smooth songs of note is ‘Falling‘, a song of love and that feeling of knowing you’ve fallen for that special someone. After a song of falling in love, Ms Powell croons ‘Unstoppable’ and wafts her way through the past and the comfort of things you can find there.

For those that adore Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson and other songstresses with strong vocals and even stronger personalities Heather Powell is your kind of lady. This lady vocally blasts, then lounges and vamps her way through a strong well produced album for a discerning ear.

A Haze of Grays and Blue is an album of dark tones, sweet blues and a hazy lazy drift through a misty past.
