Donald Trump, Michelle Obama Give Different Views of America

Yesterday was hardly a milestone in the continuing collapse of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and that of the Republican Party. However, he spoke to a crowd in Florida, and he offered an apocalyptic future for America if he doesn’t win the election. Only he can save the nation. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama addressed a crowd in New Hampshire and took Mr. Trump to task, without naming him, for his alleged sexual assaults on various women. One vision suggested a world where the dark and dismal is the norm. The other demanded a world where those were the exception.

Mr. Trump’s speech represented a new low in American politics. Mussolini wouldn’t have offered this kind of distortion and fear-mongering. “The corporate media in our country is no longer involved in journalism,” he said. “There’s a political, special interest, no different than any lobbyist or other financial entity, with a total political agenda. The agenda is not for you, it’s for themselves.” He also said, “This is a conspiracy against you, the American people, and we cannot let it happen.”

What was most appalling was “This election will determine whether we are a free nation or whether we have only the illusion of democracy, but are in fact controlled by a small handful of global special interests rigging the system, and our system is rigged. This is reality, you know it, they know it, I know it, and pretty much the whole world knows it. The establishment and their media enablers will control over this nation through means that are very well known. Anyone who challenges their control is deemed a sexist, a racist, a xenophobe, and morally deformed. They will attack you, they will slander you, they will seek to destroy your career and your family, they will seek to destroy everything about you, including your reputation. They will lie, lie, lie, and then again they will do worse than that, they will do whatever is necessary. The Clintons are criminals, remember that. They’re criminals.

“This is well documented, and the establishment that protects them has engaged in a massive cover-up of widespread criminal activity at the State Department and the Clinton Foundation in order to keep the Clintons in power.”

Of course, if the Clintons were as criminal as he claims, the Illuminati behind them would most assuredly pick someone else to do their bidding.

As for Ms. Obama’s speech, it was an entirely different kettle of fish. Revelations that Mr. Trump has been a sexual predator as well as a failed casino operator were no surprise here; he carries a sense of entitlement that extends to the bodies of others. He defended his statements about being able to kiss whomever he wished whenever he wished as locker room banter, nothing unusual. But that is not the case.

The First Lady said, “I can’t believe I’m saying a candidate for president of the United States has bragged about sexually assaulting women. This is not normal. This is not politics as usual. This is disgraceful. It is intolerable. And it doesn’t matter what party you belong to — Democrat, Republican, independent — no woman deserves to be treated this way. None of us deserves this kind of abuse.”

“To dismiss this as everyday locker room talk is an insult to decent men everywhere,” she said. “The men that you and I know don’t treat women this way. They are loving fathers who are sickened by the thought of their daughters being exposed to this kind of vicious language about women.”

And therein lies the difference between the two campaigns. One makes unfounded accusations, attacks the weak and thrives on false equivalence. The other simply asks, “Have you do decency, sir?”

The silence thereafter is deafening.
