Fashion Chronicles Day 2: From The Runway To Everyday

The latest styles that flood the runway are amazing to the point where the glamour seems all so distant becoming mere entertainment. This doesn’t have to be the case! You could live Fashion Week right where you are. I discovered three questions concerning this season’s hottest trends that will help bridge the gap between runway and everyday for you.

Question#1: How do I wear metallics?

Metallics are an all time favorite in Fall 2013 collections and this season it’s strutting in various shades! This is a very versatile addition to spice up any wardrobe but can also be very tricky to pair up with. Here are some fun ways designers of New York Fashion Week played with its shades:

Less is more
Czar by Cesar Galindo pairs a fiery metallic blazer with soft nude and black. He makes sure to keep minimal make up on his models, highlighting the eyes and completing the look with a red lip. Since metallic is so strong, it doesn’t need much more color to validate it. In this case, less is more.

Question #2: How do I wear sheer?
Sheer blouses, capes, and even dresses are gracing the runways of Fashion Week, becoming a transparent Fall essential. Sheer is a classy, romantic addition to any wardrobe. Question is, how do you wear sheer tastefully?

1. Wear with a camisole or strapless top of the same shade, nude, or even a fun contrast of color.
WARNING!:Keep away from the temptation to go bare underneathe. If you still vow to the expression used earlier in this article, “Less is more!”, then try choosing a blouse with opaque pockets or opaque designs over a coordinating bra to maintain modesty.
Above, Monika Chiang shows this texture works great with another season favorite: leather!

2. Mono-tone the foundation.
A sheer dress can be breath takingly beautiful, yet could take a turn for the scary when worn all the wrong ways. This upcoming trend is great with a strapless dress of any length. For an more edgy and everyday look the sheer dress can be paired with a mono-toned strapless top and skinny leg pant complete with a funky knee length boot. In this Fall 2013 design, Monika Chiang leaves room for this unorthodox approach.

3.Add a leather vest
Kenneth Cole proves again that sentimental sheer looks stunning worn with leather. Here, in his collection shown at New York Fashion Week, he pairs the delicate texture with a hard leather vest. Try adding a touch of leather to keep an outfit from becoming too delicate.

Question#3: How can I add color to Fall colors?
So by this point you’ve packed away your summer clothes. You bid farewell to the beautiful colors you wore for the past three months only to face dull Fall colors. Fortunately, this doesn’t have to be the end! Here are ways to have fun with color while enjoying the hues of the season:

1.Focus On Top
Noor by Noon’s Fall 2013 collection shows a way to keep from ‘snooze control’ by adding a refreshing pop of color with the use of a bold red knit hat and matching red lip.

Monica Chiang collaborates the ordinary khaki pant with a touch of color, thus creating an electrifying duo. Try this to push any vibrant color to stand out against neutral colors.

Czar by Cesar Galindo loves the feminine frame in his new designs for Fall. Here, he pairs the bold color of this body con dress with black stockings and pumps.

2.Tone down a full outfit bursting in color with a neutral tone or black leather
Rebecca Minkoff’s Fashion Week collection gives inspiration by adding black leather to a fun neon outfit.

3. Flip It In Reverse! Below, Rebecca Chiang offers the playful approach in reverse, introducing color on top of a mono-toned outfit.

… Well there it is, just a few resolutions to help clear the fog coming from catwalks in NYC this week. These answers are not written in stone as you may personalize metallics, color, and sheer however you wish and I hope that you do! Stay tuned for more!
