Fashion Chronicles Day 3: Confessions Behind the Fabric

Fashion Week can be such a hustle and bustle. It’s a wonder how these shows run so gracefully and the designers are able to keep their composure. So what goes on in the minds of Fashion Week designers? I took the honor in finding out some of the confessions and inspiration behind the fabric of 4 Fashion Week designers.

Missing Home
Charlotte Ronson’s Fall 2013 collection takes us back to her British roots in the 1960s. Here, she reminisces over hunter green, durable fabrics like her shiny leather, plaid, A lines, and interesting angular patterns. She recently stated, “I kind of went back to my roots. Even though I moved here when I was six, I still have fond memories of London and the English countryside. So I designed clothes with an outdoorsy but modern feel to them.”
The fashion is heavily inspired by all things 60s as well as the makeup she chose for her models. Her portrayal is through strong eyes and loose hair drawn into an effortless ponytail. She also reveals that one of her favorite designs is the floral green dress with cut out lace. Take a trip down memory lane with the designer.

Dreaming of Russian Opera
From Project Runway to Fall Fashion Week, the former fashion student opens up and reveals in his 10th collection, his love for Russian opera. Random right? Not to Christian Siriano as he enjoys looking back into the nineteenth century and even identifies his collection with what it might be like at the opera on a date. When asked in a recent interview about what inspires this love for fashion he directs attention on his ballerina sister and mother who practically lived backstage. He responds, “I wanted to be apart of that world.” Take a glimse of his imagination straight from the runway.

Hat Fetishes?
Max Azria is the mastermind behind the BCBGMaxazria brand and he now presents Herve, striking the runway with its game face ON. His collection is very fun showing off studded designs, beautiful sequin dresses, beading, embellished jackets, natural leopard prints, and much more! So question is, what’s up with the black caps? He responds, “I think it’s very sexy and much more when you see a hat and some hair growing out. It’s beautiful.”

Nerves of Steel
Newly crowned creative director of the Balenciaga brand, Alexander Wang put his boxing gloves on as he suits his models with fur mittens charging at the beat of “Eye of the Tiger”. Though under much pressure, he is ready for a fashion fight! He vows to come out winning. In the newest Balenciaga collection, he brings the heat in leather, shearling, fur folded into cocoon shaped tops and coats with rounded shoulders and hoods also took the stage. Do you think he’s up for the challenge? Take a look at the new designs.alexander-wang-fall-2013-5
