It’s that time again; H&M will be collaborating with a new designer, Haute Couture label Balmain. Creative director of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing debuted pieces for this fashion collab at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards last Sunday.
Olivier Rousteing brings a youthful feel to the french fashion house. This should be a great project for the two fashion giants, connecting a high fashion brand with a fast-fashion, multinational, retail clothing company. The mainstream consumer can expect to find the still gorgeous designs but with a less costly price. The 29-year-old designer shared photos from the BBMA via instagram, to share with his 1.1 million followers. Olivier posted the caption – WHAT HAPPEN IN VEGAS WILL NOT STAY IN VEGAS with the hashtag#HMBALMAINATION. He commented on the collab, stating,
“For a luxury brand like Balmain and others, it’s an amazing gesture, giving access to people who dream about the brand. How can I say? It’s close to my vision of social media, sharing my brand with people, showing what I’m doing, giving a piece of the dream.”
There’s no guessing that when the collection is available on h&m’s e-commerce site, November 5th, it will sell out in a couple of hours just as the h&m X Alexander Wang collaboration did in 2014.
It’s amazing how Balmain uses their young designer Rousteing to bring his youthful aura to the playing field. Olivier can literally connect to his fans by making the collection available for more people. Olivier:
“Personally, it’s an amazing challenge as a designer to make a collection for the street market and for the entire world. When you work for a superluxury brand, you don’t have so many stores, your vision isn’t the entire world. With H&M, you know you’re part of the world, you touch all the continents”
Olivier stated in an interview with style.com. Expectations are definitely high after seeing the Las Vegas announcement go viral.
Creative director Olivier Rousteing debuted pieces for this fashion collab at the 2015 Billboard music Awards last Sunday. He called up his close model pals Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner to fly into Vegas for a red carpet appearance. Kendal was seen sporting a casual glam look; a pearl beaded, v-neck, cardigan sweater paired with suede thigh-highs. After seeing her outfit on the red carpet and before learning about the collaboration news, some skeptical thoughts came to mind. It was kinda weird seeing Kendal dressed so casual on the carpet. I thought, either she’s not excited for the red carpet anymore and she didn’t put in effort; dressing just cute enough or she was supporting a designer friend. Welp, I hit it on the nail with the 2nd thought. Jourdan and Kendal’s outfits were defiantly wearable, from going on a movie date to dinner with friends. Jourdan Dunn told Entertainment News host, Giuliana Rancic,
“He dresses the most sexiest woman in the world so when Olivier calls, you answer and your like hell yeh I wanna be dressed in your amazing outfits!”
