The most ideal exercise and the simplest and the most practical in people’s modern lifestyles is walking. It’s natural, you don’t have to learn any new moves or wear a certain type of clothing to do it, No equipment is necessary, and you’ve been doing it all your life, you just haven’t been doing enough.
Better than doing one intense hour of cardio 2 or 3 times a week is incorporating more walking into your daily lifestyle, day in and day out. If you drive, park far away from the door, not as close as possible, and you will get more time on your feet and less sitting down. Opt to do things the hard way, not the easy way and you will burn more calories getting daily chores done without any special extra effort.
Diet is important, and people are often drowsy because they eat too much, too often, and in particular too much sugar and starch, which calms the nerves, and in excess, makes you sluggish. If you ate less carbohydrate, regardless of how strict you are about food groups, you will feel more energy and clearer minded.
The combination of low carb/paleo dieting and cardiovascular exercise is effective in slimming down. Count carbs and calories and walk at least 20 to 30 minutes a day in total.
Remember to buy and wear comfortable shoes with a lot of support, and walk in such a way that the heel lands on the ground first, and then the rest of the foot. Walk slowly, or at least not to the point that it stresses your heart and you begin to breathe fast. The arms should swing at your sides in harmony with the movements of the legs, and your back should be straight and your head above your shoulders in the erect position.
Yoga is also an essential element of anyone’s workout regimen, since we are all sedentary and losing our flexibility and stamina from sitting in front of computers all day and pushing papers.
My next article will be on standing yoga postures that one can do without a mat, special equipment, or a lot of knowledge that helps maintain good posture and smooth functioning of the breath and nervous energy.
