The initiative of the concert “Rise Up As One” is to send a message. Message to the world through music. In order to unite everybody together. Due to the fact that it doesn’t matter race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
The live concert was transmitted through the largest Hispanic channel Univision. The celebration took place in San Diego, California. From all over the United States and Mexico people assisted. The Mexican band “Los Tigres Del Norte” opened up the concert with their performance.
The host Jorge Ramos explained with a phrase, “I refuse to believe we live in a country where there is hatred,” to demonstrate the reason the concert was created. The second artist that performed was Andra Day with a song that she repeatedly said, “…will rise up.” Following her performance, artist Alejandro Sanz sang. Sanz sang “Someone Like You.” Then he sang with the Mexican artist Jesse from the special duet. The duet is Jesse and Joy.
Actor Wilmer Valderrama originally from Venezuela spoke. Valderrama stated in front of the crowd to remember the word “immigrant.” Because it is powerful. Alejandra Espinoza, first winner of Nuestra Belleza Latina reminded the Latinos to vote. There are about 27 million Hispanics residing in the United States.
