Earlier this week, the fine folks over at JoBlo spoke word of Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Now You See Me) making an appearance in the Marvel’s: Phase Three string of films. Particularly, showing up to (undoubtedly) do some serious damage alongside Asgard’s own thunder god, Thor. Marvel Studios has now confirmed that, indeed, Ruffalo’s ‘green meanie’ is set to team up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the upcoming film Thor:Ragnarok.
With a story claimed to be centered on a “distant planet” that is “not Asgard and not Earth”, speculation by anyone worth their Marvel salt is leaning towards a Planet Hulk adaption, or at the very least a reference to it.
Closing what is to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’sAsgardian trilogy, Thor: Ragnarok features a screenplay by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and Craig Kyle, producer both previous Thor films. Continuing where the The Dark World left off, Loki – disguised as Odin – now rules Asgard in the absence of our thunderer. With Ragnarok being the title of the third and presumed ‘final’ installment of the Asgardian trilogy, things are expected to go south in a big way for the Aesir (as ominously alluded in Age of Ultron).
Prior to Ragnarok, Ruffalo will reprise his role as Dylan Rhodes Jon M. Chu’s Now You See Me: The Second Act, sequel to 2013’s Now You See Me. Thor: Ragnarok is set to release in theaters on November 3, 2017.
