Our friends over TheWrap have brought us confirmation from the Toronto International Film Festival that the True Detective actor will play opposite of Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Imitation Game) inMarvel’s upcoming film adaption of Doctor Strange. This doesn’t come as too big a surprise, as rumor of Mcadams being in talks with Marvel Studios have been circulating for weeks prior to today’s official announcement.
Though currently it is unknown who exactly the Mean Girls star will be playing, this writer would hazard his best guess on McAdams being pegged for Clea; prodigal sorceress, disciple, significant other and (sometimes) star crossed adversary of Doctor Strange. I mean…
Doctor Strange is coming to us by way of a script by Jon Spaihts and direction by Scott Derrickson. Name dropped very subtly in Captain America: The Winter Solider, the story will Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch), a brilliant though exceedingly arrogant and self-centered neurosurgeon who – after being involved in horrific car accident – discovers the boundless wonders and spellbinding horrors of magic and the many alternate dimensions populating them.
Also set to star alongside Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange; Tilda Swinton (Chronicles of Narnia, Constantine), who will be playing the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave, Serenity)as the (eventual) villain, Baron Mordo.
Doctor Strange is slated to hit theaters onNovember 4, 2016. As always, stay plugged in to SE for more Comic Nook News as it develops.
