Word from the fine folks over at Deadline says the members of the Transformers writing collective have signed on with Marvel Studios to co-write the upcoming sequel to this summer’s Phase 2 finale, alongside its star, Paul Rudd.
Barrer and Ferrari aren’t exactly strangers to the world of Ant-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as their previous ‘steez’ include production re-write work for the original film, following the fairly noisy departure of the film’s original chosen director, Edgar Wright. Barrer, Ferrari and Rudd will work alongside another ‘almost’ helmer of the size-altering superhero flick, Adam McKay, on the script before work begins on the full screenplay.
Ant-Man & Wasp will see the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lily as Hope Van Dyne as the titular Wasp, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man.
“That was one of the things that was important to me in the first movie when I came on was emphasizing the Wasp more, both Hope Van Dyne and Janet Van Dyne,” stated Reed “It’s a crucial part. It’s a crucial part because in the comic books, with the exception of the first handful of Ant-Man stories, Wasp came on pretty early on in the comics in the ’60s and you really thought of them as a partnership, a romantic partnership as well as a hero team. It’s going to be fun to play around with all the aspects of that in this movie.”
Ant-Man & The Wasp is slated for release on July 6, 2018 in what will be the MCU’s Phase 3.
