SEV’s Comic Nook News: Harry Potter’s Tom Felton Joins The Flash Cast

The fine folks over at TV Line brings us word that Tom Felton, known to audiences the world over as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, has joined the cast of CW’s hit series The Flash as a series regular. Felton will be playing  the role of Julian Dorn, described as a fellow crime scene investigator with Barry at the CCPD who “suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation.”

It was recently learned that season 3 of the The Flash will be titled “Flashpoint,” confirming early rumors that the next season about the scarlet speedster will be based in part on the staple DC Comics event, which served as the penultimate comic run before DC’s New 52 launch back in 2011. The second season of The Flash left us with a bereft Barry going back in time to do what he couldn’t before: save his mother from dying at the hands of The Reverse Flash.

The source material presented a dark, world-bending tale about the consequences of Allen’s choice, with fundamental changes to the DCU including Captain Cold being the hero of Central City, the Justice League not existing, Wonder Woman’s Amazonians and Aquaman’s Atlanteans being engaged in all out war, Bruce Wayne being the one who died in the alley and not his parents inspiring his father to become Batman (and his mother The Joker), and Superman being kept in an underground base for years after being found by the military; among others.

It is currently unknown which elements of the comic will be used in the much altered live-action series, but it can be expected that The Flash will follow a similar arc.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. Season 2 of the series also introduced Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and the Earth-2 version of The Flash as played by John Wesley Shipp (who also played Barry’s father, Henry Allen).

The Flash season 3 premiere is already set to debut on The CW on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 PM ET. Until our favorite speedster returns, and as always, stay plugged in to SEV for more Comic Nook News as it develops.
