Word from Variety is that Freeform (formerly ABC Family) has issued a series order for the superhero duo Cloak and Dagger, one of Marvel’s most rumored and talked about ‘potential’ properties in the brand. The new series is being described as a “superhero love story.”
The series will focus on Tandy Bowen and Tyrone “Ty” Johnson, the titular Cloak and Dagger, as they learn to use their newly-acquired super powers while also falling in love with each other. Cloak is capable of teleportation through the “dimension of darkness” but can also leave foes stranded in the other world as well. Dagger has the ability to create light daggers with her mind, which she can control as well. Her daggers are capable of both draining life from their targets, or healing them.
First appearing in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #64 in 1982, Cloak and Dagger were created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan. The superpowered pair have worked with a host of other famous Marvel characters and teams such as; the X-Men, Doctor Strange, The Runaways and Captain America’s Secret Avengers.
