Production has officially begun in New York for the Marvel and Netflix original series featuring Kun Lun’s master of martial arts! The studio announced that Banshee actor Tom Pelphrey and The Following‘s Jessica Stroup have joined the cast as Rand Enterprise’s sibling duo of Ward and Joy Meachum.
The children of Harold Meachum (David Wenham), Joy and Ward have spent their lives building Rand Enterprises to its current standing in the world, only to have all their work put in jeopardy when Danny returns to claim his birthright.
“With the terrific addition of the very talented Jessica and Tom, we’ve now brought the entire Meachum family together,” says Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “While Marvel couldn’t be happier, Danny’s mission just got a lot more complicated.”
“I’m very happy to have Jessica and Tom as our Joy and Ward Meachum,” adds Executive Producer and Showrunner Scott Buck. “Much like Danny Rand’s past is a mystery to us, we’ll discover along the way that the Meachum children have intriguing secrets of their own.”

Teaser images — as well as set photos of Finn Jones as Danny Rand — have surfaced online via Marvel’s official Iron Fist Twitter and Tumblr, giving fans a bit of intrigue, mystery and insight into Rand Enterprises, the Meachum family and the Rand’s absence.
First appearing in Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974, Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, and has been featured in numerous Marvel Comics titles. Often occupying pages with the kung-fu master of Kun Lun are fellow heroes Luke Cage aka Power Fist, Colleen Wing, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and Misty Knight (to name only a few). Originally created as a means to capitalize on the wuxia action film craze of the mid-1970s, Iron Fist has since become a staple fan favorite of true believers across the globe.
Iron Fist will be the fourth series scheduled in what has been a thus far stellar run for Marvel Television. The series will see Daniel Rand returning to New York City after being missing for years. There, he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Jones leads the cast of the series as Danny Rand, The Immortal Iron Fist. He’s joined by Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing and David Wenham as Harold Meachum.
Scott Buck (Dexter, Rome, Six Feet Under) serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Marvel’s Iron Fist will be available for streaming in it’s entirety on Netflix not long after Marvel’s Luke Cage, which premieres some time in 2016. Following the lot will be the mini-series event Marvel’s The Defenders, which will see Rand, Cage, Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil finally unite.
