On Thursday, April 16, 2015, attackers claiming to be members of the Islamic State shot an American woman in her car in Karachi, Pakistan as she left the Jinnah Medical and Dental College where she is an administrator and a faculty member of the college.
The suspects rode on motorcycles and dropped leaflets in English and Urdu with the ominous threat that “God willing, we will burn America”. The leaflets the attackers dropped indicated that the shooting of the American woman was in retaliation for the deaths of five of their fellow militants killed in Karachi.
The police suspect that these attackers are members from various terrorist groups that have merged together to form a new group.
The woman is expected to live although she is in serious condition.
