Although parts of the USA continue to dig themselves out of another snowstorm, it is that time of year again to move our clocks ahead by one hour. As we continue to dig out our vehicles and homes in this Winter of No End, it’s time to “Spring Forward”.
Daylight Savings Time will be at 2 a.m. local time on March 8. Some gadgets, like your cell phone, are pre-programmed for Daylight Savings Time in the winter and the spring, but other time pieces like your wrist watch might not be pre-programmed for it; so make sure all of your time devices are in sync this weekend. It’s also a good rule of thumb to change your batteries in your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors whenever you change your clocks.
Not all of the USA observes this event. Arizona and Hawaii are the two states of our nation that do not follow Daylight Savings Time. Some US Territories, such as Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands, also do not observe Daylight Savings Time.
So go to bed an hour early Saturday night and look at the bright side: moving the clock ahead means that warmer weather is on its way….eventually…..one day…
