One of the Netflix’s most successful superhero shows is making a lot of adjustments in the offseason. Marvel’s Daredevil brings back a veteran to face off against the devil of Hell’s Kitchen as the series finds a new showrunner heading into Season 3.
Vincent D’Onofrio is slated to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in the third season of the Netflix Original. Behind the camera, Mr. Erik Oleson has been named the series’ new showrunner, replacing former showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. Petrie and Ramirez are moving on to lead Marvel’s The Defenders.
“Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk,” Executive Vice President and Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb told Deadline reporter Dominic Patten.
Oleson carries an impressive resume into the Marvel-Netflix production offices. He most recently worked on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle as a writer and executive producer. Prior the Amazon Prime original hit, Oleson was a Co-Executive Producer on CW’s Arrow for two years.
“We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson,” Loeb said.
Marvel and Netflix haven’t announced a launch date for Season 3 nor for its sibling shows Jessica Jones or Luke Cage’s Season 2 return.
