A close source of singer/humanitarian Wyclef Jean reported yesterday that Jean will announce his run for president of his home country, Haiti, on Thursday during CNN’s “Larry King Live”.
Jean told TIME magazine in a recent interview, “”If not for the earthquake, I probably would have waited another 10 years before doing this. The quake drove home to me that Haiti can’t wait another 10 years for us to bring it into the 21st century. If I can’t take five years out to serve my country as president, then everything I’ve been singing about, like equal rights, doesn’t mean anything.”
Jean’s reps haven’t confirmed or denied this statement, only stating that Jean will make an announcement on Thursday. I love vagueness.
Guess we’ll find out tomorrow if the gossip is true, but all that aside, how cool would it be to have a Former Fugee as president?
