T-minus one month (and a day or two) until our anime dreams come true!
(CAUTION: SEASON 1 SPOILERS!)
The highly anticipated season 2 of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan is set to premiere on April 1st of this year as reported by Funimation (whoop! whoop!). In the final episode of season 1, we were left with Eren Yeager in the infirmary, Annie Leonhart exposed as a titan shifter and encased inside a crystal, and the discovery of a titan in Wall Sheena. Talk about suspense! In the AOT season 2 preview that was released by Funimation last year, we are briefly introduced to the “beast titan” as well as other presumed titan shifters fighting both titans and humans. The preview is full of the usual gore and violence along with the mysterious hints as to where the titans originated. The purpose of the titan shifters seems to be promising for humanity, yet there is a clear gray area as to whom to trust.
Of course, loyal manga readers will know the events that took place after season 1 had aired due to the extensive AOT manga series. But for the dedicated anime viewers, we have been hanging on a cliff for THREE YEARS since it first aired in 2013. This is most likely due to the fact that there hasn’t been enough material from the manga series itself to create a solid second season. Yet, the chief director Tetsuro Araki and director Masashi Koizuka have been working very closely with AOT creator Hajime Isayama on season 2, meaning that the anime may be closely tied with the manga.
Attack on Titan season 2 will premiere April 1st, 2017 on FunimationNow.
