Its a new day for freedom of speech and the American way.
Sony Studios stop capitulating to the demands of The Guardians of Peace and the North Korean government and released the movie “The Interview” on Christmas Day.
Soooooo, all that hacking chaos has subsided somewhat and people have run to see the movie.
The Seth Rogen/James Franco film “The Interview” was released last week to 300 independent theaters…one of them was small theater in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Interview is a crappy movie ( I didn’t see it, but critics panned it before the hacking hoopla) the small masses went and it still sucked and they wasted money.
One man in particular wasted a lot of money,Variety online reports, an Ohio man…had plan…a dumb illegal plan. This Ohio guy bought $650 worth of tickets/passes at $15 a piece to scalp online. What this guy didn’t know was Sony released the movie a bit later to be streamed online, to YouTube, Hulu, iTunes and Netflix for half price.
Oh!, no, Mr Bill…….Oh yeah! Jason Best from Ohio is assed out of $650, and now he is demanding a refund.
The problem with that is…..scalping tickets is illegal….so, NO…. the Esquire Theater has refused to return his money.
Jason Best thought he could get a refund, no matter his motive for the purchase, because the Esquire Theater website said the tickets were refundable. Well, it happens that it was really Movietickets.com that Mr Best purchased the tickets from and they leave it up to theater owners to determine refunds for special events.
There is a lesson to be learned here and Mr. Jason Best has learned it.
